Tongue River Ranch raises 1500 calves per year. Approximately 200 heifers are kept for replacements and the rest are sold at private treaty or on video.

Calves are 80% Angus and 20% Hereford/Angus Cross. When the calves are weaned, they are vaccinated, branded and given age verification tags.  The calves are weaned for 45 days before being put on wheat.

Steers weigh between 800-850 pounds and heifers weigh between 700-725 pounds by February. They are then sold to weigh on the truck with a two-percent shrink.
